Privacy

Two things happen on this site. You can send us an enquiry, and we can count visits with Google Analytics if you accept cookies. That is all. Nothing is sold, nothing is shared for advertising, and there is no marketing list.

XOBYTE is the data controller for this site. For anything in this notice, email michaelogunyemi@xobyte.co.uk.

The form asks for your name and email, with company and phone optional, plus whatever you choose to tell us. We use it to reply to you and to carry on that conversation, nothing else.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests, responding to someone who has contacted us about our services.

How long: if the enquiry becomes work, for as long as we are working together plus the period our accountants and insurers require. If nothing comes of it, we delete it within twelve months, or sooner if you ask.

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It only loads after you accept, and it sets the cookies listed in our cookie notice. We ask Google not to use the data for advertising or personalisation, and IP addresses are anonymised.

Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Where it goes: Google is a US company, so this involves a transfer outside the UK. Google relies on the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on standard contractual clauses. If you decline, no data reaches Google at all.

Like almost every website, our server keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, page requested, time) to keep the site up and to spot abuse. They are not used to identify visitors and are not combined with anything else.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests, security and reliability. Kept for a short period, then rotated away.

Our email provider (Microsoft 365), ZeptoMail (run by Zoho, which sends the enquiry form's emails from its EU data centres) and our hosting provider handle data on our behalf as processors. Google Analytics only if you accept. We do not sell data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent. Email michaelogunyemi@xobyte.co.uk and we will deal with it, and always within one month.

If we get it wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
